The Skating Movie Database is a listing of movies which have:
- Ice skating as a central theme in a movie
- Ice skating in a scene of a movie
- An ice skater who had a part in a movie
- Other times when: skating is mentioned, skaters are seen, etc
The database has the following information:
- Movie Name
- Year movie was released
- Movie synopsis
- John's comments
This list is written and maintained by John Lincoln and is being published in alternate formats by Virginia Blalock with permission from the author. The synopsis were obtained from the Internet Movie Database.
The quad roller skating listings do not appear in the searchable database. They are, however, in John's original listing.
I take movie submissions. Go to this form if you have seen a movie with skating in it. I will try and update the database as often as I can but there may be a while between updates.
There have been number of posts in the past about skating movies on the toob; often the Sonja Henie films. The following are all of the movies I have found or heard of to date that contain ice skating; ANY ICE SKATING. That includes Figure Skating, Hockey and Speed Skating whether the skating is an integral part of the movie or just background. Sonja Henie's eleven films are noted here. It's just that I happened to have many of the following titles on tape in a rather overly-large tape library; something on the order of 1200+ titles, about 19 years worth of recording. I have added all of the items and corrections posted by my fellow netters and some more items I have located regarding this thread to this updated file. The items added or updated since the previous post of this file are marked with an asterisk. Feel free to note any additional titles that I have missed or update any of the descriptions and/or players.
